If something keeps a person from giving up, should it still be labeled an 'addiction?'
An accusatory 'addiction' charge is, really, an unfair argument in the first place. It's similar to an accusation of denial: Any answer seems to allow for the accuser to appear more logical.
If you give a person the right education and understanding, there could be no better person to identify a serious personal problem. Friends, despite even the best intentions, are for comfort, aid, and companionship; not for making derogatory and distorted accusations.
