Universal Necessity

If the government requires all citizens to have something (i.e. liability car insurance) then they should also mandate that little or no profits be made off of that requirement. If parts of society create an undue burden on a strong majority of the population, it's easy to understand a fair, federal involvement, or standard, applied to that operation (Economically, not socially).

Many people live in areas where owning a vehicle is essential to "survival," whether it's because the transit system is poor and impractical, or things are just too far to walk. However, government mandates require owners to have liability car insurance. Therefore, since it is legally required, a business shouldn't be allowed to charge more than the absolute lowest price for the minimal coverage.

Is it moral to allow a person to unfairly profit from a public necessity? (*cough* healthcare *cough*)(no pun intended) (ok maybe just a little)
