“I” know that “I” exist. Perhaps everything else is real, or just a mental manifestation....but I can’t truly prove or understand anything else, as anything but “I” could simply be a mental manifestation.
Perception is everything…Perception is reality. And if perception is reality, then there are no facts…no “basic understanding.” It becomes impossible to “know” anything. “Knowing” is merely personal interpretation.
For all the mathematics, logic, rationale, etc. that’s been conceptualized, uncertainty is the only true constant. And, perhaps, even that is uncertain.
